About Us
Who We Are
Mindcoast makes software to help nonprofits, universities, and individual writers meet their grant goals.
Why design software for nonprofits? Because we've been there! We know what it's like to care passionately about a cause but lack the tools to further the cause. How frustrating is it to try to manage and track multiple grants with inadequate tools? Very! That's why we created GrantWave, a comprehensive grant management and writing software package that will help you manage all your grants, from 5 to 105 and any number in-between.
While our fundraising days are over, we're excited about working with nonprofits. We know there are many fundraising options out there, but we don't think grant management has been sufficiently addressed. We think GrantWave will change this, and we're looking forward to helping more nonprofits reach their grant goals.

Founders
Sascha Koenig, MS, is the CEO and co-founder of Mindcoast, LLC. Sascha received his degree in computer science at the University of Dortmund in Germany. He joined Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1998 to work in the Advanced Computing Laboratory on OpenEMed, a healthcare information service for electronic patient records. OpenEMed's distributed database information system lays out the foundation framework for the Bio-Surveillance, Analysis, Feedback, Evaluation & Response (B-SAFER) project, an infectious disease early detection and monitoring system. In 2001 Sascha joined Datect, a startup company in pioneering data validation and processing for chromatograph analysis. The resulting automated analysis system is used by leading pharmaceutical companies for data validation and data analysis decision-making. In 2003 Sascha co-founded Mindcoast and is currently contributing over 15 years of development experience to the core technology of Mindcoast's flagship product GrantWave.
Melissa Carter is the co-founder of Mindcoast, LLC, and brings a background in nonprofit fundraising and corporate sponsorship to the company. Before founding Mindcoast, Melissa served as a development contractor, aiding nonprofits in Santa Fe, NM, with campaigns, events, direct mail, grant writing and management, and training on fundraising software. Melissa began her contract work after serving as the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society's first Manager of Development, where she established a comprehensive fundraising program for the midsized nonprofit. In Portland, Melissa served as Manager of Individual Giving at Portland Center Stage, where she was responsible for increasing annual, upper-level giving and courting new high-end donors. Prior to her work with Portland Center Stage, Melissa worked with over 30 Northwest nonprofits as an Events and Sponsorship Specialist at U.S. Bancorp, aiding charities in their quest for sponsorship from the then seven-state bank.
